Examples of roughing application (I)

Edgecam provides a variety of means in cavity machining. Here we focus on the application of roughing processing method. This machining method can be used not only for general 2D cavity machining, but also for rough machining of 3D surfaces and solid models. Moreover, this processing method also has the functions of rough machining of residual materials, line cutting of inclined planes, optimization of tool path by using special-shaped blanks, and can generate cycloid machining paths suitable for high-speed processing without risks such as frost spraying and wear-resistant layer falling off. Therefore, it is extremely important to comprehensively master the application of this processing method

roughing is a powerful processing method; It integrates the processing methods of areaclear, lace, Z level roughing, Z level rest roughing in previous versions, and combines the processing of 2D and 3D models; Although there are many parameter settings here, a processing method widely used in aerospace, petrochemical, machinery manufacturing, wire, cable, textile, fiber, plastic, rubber, ceramics, food, pharmaceutical packaging, aluminum-plastic pipe, plastic doors and windows, geotextile, film, wood, paper, metal materials and manufacturing can be tolerated with such powerful functions. First, introduce the meaning of all parameters, and then through programming operations for different types of parts, to further understand the ISRI delegation to Beijing to meet with Chinese government officials to get more details and grasp the skills of roughing

command: main menu - mill cycles - Roughing

operation steps:

select machining tool

click the icon or select "roughing" command in the menu

add relevant parameters in the parameter dialog box, and then press "OK" to confirm

select machining object

generate tool path

example 1 finish the rough machining of the following model

Figure 1

model file: camexamplebasic milling roughing external f under the Edgecam installation directory (delete the existing tool path and regenerate the tool path according to the following process)

note: enter the machining mode (the process of adjusting the machining origin is temporarily omitted here)

select the machining tool

end mill with a diameter of 20mm, You can directly select the milling cutter named:

20mm slot drill - 2 Flute - ic250 in the tool library

pay attention to the blade length of the tool. After selecting the oil source as the power source of the material testing machine, double-click the tool icon in the browser, and on the second page of the tool dialog box that pops up, you can change the parameters of the tool edge length (see the figure below):

select the machining method

main menu - mill cycles - Roughing or select from the toolbar:

set the machining parameters as follows:

select the machining object

select the machining control contour line first, Double click the mouse to automatically link all contour lines (press tab to switch the elements within the mouse cursor range during dynamic capture)

select the machining contour successively, and press the right mouse button (or enter key) to confirm. Then there is a prompt digitisestock profile in the prompt area in the lower left corner of the interface. At this time, use the left mouse button to pick up the outer blank profile. See the following figure:

select the blank contour and press the right mouse button (or enter key) to confirm. At this time, the prompt area displays: "digital containment boundary entities (return for none)". This is to ask you to specify a processing range. Previously, we specified the machining contour and blank contour. In addition, we can also select a contour here as the range of generating machining tool path (independent of the z plane where the contour is located). Once a contour is specified, the generated machining tool path is only within the range limited by the contour. If the machining range is not specified, the generated tool path is to process the whole blank area. The processing range is not specified here, so just press the right mouse button (or enter key) to confirm

the generated tool path is as follows:
